Andy & Danette – Sawtooth, Idaho

Andy & Danette – Sawtooth, Idaho

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to get eloped in the mountains right next to your close family members? Well, I’ve got a treat for you. Last summer I had an amazing privilege to photograph this gorgeous couple tying the knot at Stanley Lake, Idaho. These two are one powerful couple, Danette is an amazing makeup artist and Andy on the other hand is a badass helicopter pilot. First thing Danette told me when we first met is that she wanted a calm small wedding in the middle of Idaho. I was so excited to hear this, it was a nice change of pace at the time with so many large weddings we had. It felt great just to be in the moment and photograph this gorgeous couple. Andy and Danette got ready at their rustic cabin near Redfish Lake, just 1 hour away from Sun Valley. For their first look, they both wanted the legendary Sawtooth mountains in the background. Right after they saw each other, their family joined them right on the waters edge of Stanley Lake. After a tear jerking vowels, these two said their ” I Do’s” and off they went on their honeymoon to the Caribbean Islands. If you aren’t big into large weddings, I highly recommend just having a small and intimate elopement at a place that means the most to both of you.

As an avid outdoorsman, I’m always pushing myself–and my scars are the evidence. From falling through the ice on Payette Lake (while on a quick romantic get away–kind of a mood crusher) and crashing while mountain biking in the Boise foothills, I’d rather be at the forefront of adventure than in the back seat. I’ll take my scars over complacency any day. I crave a life of new experiences and desperately want this for you, too. I believe photography embodies freedom and exploration, so let’s adventure together. We’re swapping the stiff posing for kayaking, the forced smiles for hiking. Pick your adventure. I’ll bring the camera.
